Why MASH and Eventyrsport invest in AI for employee training

MASH Academy on a phone, where an employee asks the chatbot for a wine recommendation to go with a ribeye

There are plenty of opinions about artificial intelligence. Some people find it exciting, others would rather keep their distance. But it isn’t really about the technology itself — it is about how we use it.

Because what happens when AI is used not to replace people, but to lift them? Both MASH Steakhouse and Eventyrsport have chosen to do exactly that: to build AI into their internal learning and knowledge environments with one clear purpose — to support their employees at the moment they need it. Not instead of people. For people.

We don’t use AI to talk to guests — we use it to make our people even better at doing that themselves.

Most people have tried it. A chatbot that answers beside the point, dodges the question or points you nowhere. The technology isn’t the problem — the training is.

At both MASH and Eventyrsport the chatbot is trained on their own Academy platforms, with precise, context-based answers written for the working day the employees are actually in. Not theory, but something close to reality, relevant and easy to act on.

Does it replace training? Absolutely not.

Quite the opposite. The AI chatbot supports training — it does not replace it.

What it does is let the companies focus their onboarding and learning where it creates the most value. The mundane, the repetitive, the factual is handled by the bot. The complex, the cultural, the human is given priority in the training.

How AI is used for employee training

MASH

  • HR and people management
  • Guest communication, complaints and table management
  • Menu knowledge and wine pairing

Eventyrsport

  • Comparing technical materials and features
  • Return policies and employee discounts
  • Product recommendations based on activity and environment
  • Campaign and product descriptions for customers

Our chatbot isn’t a digital colleague — it is a tool that removes doubt and strengthens the expertise in the store. It means our people can focus on what they are best at: advising customers with confidence and ease.

Employee training and ROI

When an employee can get a precise, correct answer in four seconds without interrupting a colleague or waiting for HR, it changes the game. No waiting, no interruptions, no hesitation. That goes for the employee — and for the colleague or manager who used to have to find the answer.

The documented ROI on the chatbot in both companies is conservatively 5–9x monthly. But that figure covers only one side of the equation: the load taken off HR, managers and support functions.

Include the employee’s own time saved and better decision-making, and the picture quickly doubles. A real ROI of 10–18x is therefore not unrealistic.

And that still leaves out the effect on higher sales, fewer mistakes and greater psychological safety — all of which follow naturally from more confident, more assured employees.

Academy — a platform with AI

Having seen the concrete results, the natural question is: what now?

For us it means that our learning platform, Academy, will be designed with an AI-first approach from here on. Not because it looks clever, but because it works. We don’t see it as an extra feature. We see it as a new way of thinking about learning and knowledge sharing.

  • Content created for both people and machines
  • Structure that makes contextual look-up possible
  • Continuous improvement based on how people actually use it

Partnership over product

The most important part of working with AI isn’t the technology. It is the partnership.

We develop the solution in close collaboration with the customer, starting from the real needs the users tell us about — not what we think they need. We analyse the interaction between employees and bot. We spot the blind spots and fill the gaps.
